Why John Wrote a Gospel

Building on previous scholarship of the content of the Fourth Gospel, Thatcher addresses new and exciting questions. Asking why this oral gospel was first put into writing, and focusing on how these stories operated to create memory withing groups of people, Thatcher uncovers how early Christians strove to remember Jesus in the decades after his ministry and how Christians came into conflict with one another about which traditions were best.
